Props from ”A complete unknown“Will be shown on Bob Dylan and Woody Guthrie Centers in Tulsa, Okla., As part of a new exhibition,” Achpeting into the unknown, “The opening on February 28. It is the first exhibition to go at both centers at the same time.
The exhibition, presented in collaboration with Searchlight Pictures, will “highlight the deep band between the two hugely influential American songwriters.” One of the first scenes in Timothée Chalamet Biopic sees that Dylan visits Guthrie (Scoot McNaairy) at the hospital immediately upon his arrival at New York City.
Among the props from the James Mangold-directed film is Guthries Harmonika; Dylan’s letter to Guthrie; Johnny Cash’s letter to Dylan; “Blowin ‘in the Wind” texts handwritten on a cocktail napkin; And a handful of album cover with the actors (such as Charamet and Elle Fanning’s reproduction of “Freewheelin ‘Bob Dylan”).
“As film guests learned from“ a complete unknown, the relationship between Bob Dylan and Woody Guthrie is crucial to an understanding of 20Th Century American Music, ”said Steve Higgins, CEO of American Song Archives. “This exhibition will reinforce that story by connecting it to the real artifacts in our collections.”
In front of the public opening, Centers will host a private event on February 27 with Adrianne Phillips, the Oscar-nominated costume designer by “A Complete Unknown” and music leader Steve Gozicki, at Tulsas Circle Cinema.
Members have early access to reserve their free ticket during a sale starting February 13 at noon CT. Tickets will be available to the public at noon on February 17
“A Completely Unknown,” which chronicles Dylan’s early year in New York City leading to its “Going Electric” moment at Newport Folk Festival 1965, is nominated for eight Academy Awards, including best picture, best actor for Charamet, best director for Mangold, best actress for Monica Barbaro (Joan Baez) and best actor for Edward Norton (Pete Seeger).
