Will Arnett, Sean Hayes and Jason Bateman’s “Smartless” podcast celebrated its 250th episode Monday with a surprising guest look-from Arnett’s ex-wife, Amy Poehler.
Poehler, as recently launched their own “good hang” podcastWorked with Hayes to keep their appearance on “Smartless” a secret from both Arnett and Bateman. “It was very easy to hide it. No one asked,” she said. Obviously, it was just her and Arnett’s youngest son, Abel, it counted in advance. “Our youngest saw my schedule on the kitchen table and said,” You do “Smartless”? Do Dad know? “, She revealed.” I said, “No! Say nothing!”
Throughout the episode, Arnett and Poehler, who got married in 2003 before divided in 2012 and completed their divorce in 2016, what it has been like to consult their two sons, Abel and Archie, after separating. “Parenting is a constant, constantly changing thing, or how did anyone say this to me once I always loved, which was (it) parenting is like a series of short stories,” Poehler said.
“A short story begins and you think,“ I don’t know how this story will go. I don’t know the characters. In response to Poehler, Arnett increased praise for his former husband for his parenting. “I have to try really hard. Amy, you’re really good at this and you help me do this in collaboration with you,” Arnett said. “To actually sit and listen to what your child is trying to say to you, do you know what I mean? Encourage them that, as much as they can, speak and really hear (them). I will not pass (it) of course because it is not so I grew up.”
After Poehler left, Arnett took the chance to talk more about how much he values to have her as a kind of partner even after their divorce. “I am very proud of, certainly as parents, what we have been able to do,” he explained. “I am really, really lucky to have her as a partner in this way, for us that a parent in this way. There are not many people I talk to more than I talk to her, which is strange, because … you know what I mean? But it’s amazing. I feel really lucky.”
Earlier in the section, Poehler joked about why she waited so long to show up on “Smartless.” “Well, I wanted to wait until you had made 250 episodes to see if this thing was real,” commented comedians, actress, writer and podcast host. “I usually give something five years until I try it.”
