Most of us know the basics of equinox: the gym chain, which has over 100 places throughout the United States, is known for its Luxe amenities including steam room, spa, Eco-conscious products from adult alchemistAnd even eucalpytus-infused towels. And yes, yes Equinox membership is expensive – they can cost anywhere from $ 215 to $ 405 depending on location and access level – but for many Group condition Offers make the price tag worth it.
When it comes to training, I am a big class person. I like structure, and I like to have a professional to lead me through new workouts and challenges. I have tried all the popular workouts in New York City, from Boutique Fitness classes to franchise studios, everything from Pilates, Hiit, Yoga, Barre and Boxing. In recent years I have tried all kinds of Workout on class passand switched between membership at F45 training305 fitness and gymnastics schools.
But maintaining a diverse training plan is important to me – I like both high -intensity and Classes with low effect – So the variety of classes was what excited me to join Equinox. (The clubs offer 12 class categories.) When I recently joined, I tried to discover the best group conditioning at Equinox. I know how scary it can be to try a new class, so I broke down my favorites over some of the most popular class categories, including fitness, strength, pilates, yoga and renewal. Here are the best classes at Equinox and what to expect from the gym group conditioning courses.

Best Fitness Class on Equinox: Precision Run
Precision Run is a treadmill training that is divided into different intervals with different speeds, slopes and durations. You set a starting speed on your treadmill based on your 1-minute PR (your fastest speed for one minute), so it’s good to have an idea of what it is before your first class. I don’t have much experience of running, so I didn’t know what mine was, but based on my running history, my instructor helped me choose a beginner level and encouraged me to adjust throughout the class as needed. From there they will train you through each interval and adjustment. Now I’m not a runner – my preferred treadmill is 12-3-30 – So I’m surprised Precision Run became one of my favorites. I really liked the idea of a guided treadmill training; I found time to pass much faster and had more fun than if I had run on the treadmill myself, which I would normally not do.
Since I discovered precision Running classes, I have also integrated the classes on request into my workouts. The treadmill on Equinox is linked to Precision Run instrument panel, so you can take virtual, pre-recorded classes when you can’t make a specific class time. There are also Precision run coachingwho just launched December 2024, where members can train 1-1 with a coach if they have specific running goals in mind.
Best strength on equinox: rhythmic sculpt
I have never tried anything like rhythmic sculpture. The newer class at Equinox combines traditional strength training and aerobic conditioning and moves to the pace of music. The unique format makes the class fun, easy to follow and predictable: each class is divided into three blocks consisting of sets with two movements and a combination of the movements. You usually use five to 15 pounds of weights throughout the class, move through low power, toning exercises such as deadlifts, squat variations and dumbbell curls. But there is also an intensity that comes from high repetitions and compound movements, so you will definitely sweat. If you are looking for a moderate intensity training with both fitness training and strength training-with some choreography and coordination-recommend that you give rhythmic sculpture a trial.
Best yoga class on equinox: sculpted yoga
I expected sculpted yoga would resemble the popular yoga sculptures that I had tried on Corepower YoguY7 studio and Fuel houseBut I was pleasantly surprised by the differences. Equinox’s sculpted yoga includes a full effect such as Vinyasa flow containing sculpture, toning exercises with light dumbbells and ankle. When it comes to format, the class switches between blocks of yoga and sculpture. It feels more like sculpture is added to yoga, while yoga sculpture in these other studios often prioritizes fitness training and strength training. It is really a challenging yoga class where you work up a sweat, but there will be no heartbeat or high intensity.
Best Pilates class on Equinox: Pilates Rise
Equinox provides a few different Pilates classes, but my favorite is Pilates Rise, which is a modern hold of classic pilates. It feels like a more athletic version of an ordinary Pilates class, with light cardio and sculpture built into Pilates movements-even if it is still a low impact workout. The class is usually aimed at muscle groups from top to toe, including glutes, obliques, arms and of course the core. Expect your core to be kicked up for most of the class. Pilates Rise is also available at certain clubs, which I really like.
If you are new to Pilates, I would start with Pilates food, which is slower and anchored in traditional, Joseph Pilates practice. Or, Pilates Fusion is a fun alternative for a more innovative Pilates training that contains features from yoga, barre and sculpture.
Best recovery class on Equinox: Best stretch ever
I think the recovery classes at Equinox are generally super -taxed – classes such as athletic stretch, best stretch ever and sonic meditation, even though they are offered less often, are fantastic options for rest days. Best stretch that ever unique uses a stick mobility, which is a workout stick intended for deep stretch. I had never used one before taking this class, but I thought it was a gaming exchange when it comes to providing stability, increasing the movement area and activating muscles. It is rare that I take out dedicated time to extend beyond a fast, end -class cool, so having it 30 minutes or an hour is a treatment and really makes a difference in my recovery.
What to know about Equinox’s group conditioning courses
- Classes can be reserved on the EQX+ app 26 hours in advance, but you can add classes you are interested in to your calendar and the app will send a message when the booking opens. I have found that popular classes such as Pilates and Barre book almost immediately, so I strongly recommend keeping your messages on. If a class is full, you can add yourself to the waiting list or standby and hold a place if someone does not show up.
- Equinox provides all the equipment you need for a class, so you don’t have to bring anything unless you prefer your own prop. As an extra luxury, Equinox personnel make clean carpets and props after classes, but of course clean up after yourself if you leave a mess behind you.
- Classes can be instructor dependent, so I recommend that you experiment with classes that are taught by different instructors to find your preferred coaches. No class is like the other with another instructor, but the classes will follow similar formats or focus on the same goal.
- Arrives five to 10 minutes early to all new classes you take. You want to chat with the instructor about any questions or changes, find a place with a good picture of the instructor and have plenty of time to set up all the equipment you need.
- Despite Equinox’s reputation as an “exclusive” gym, the group’s fitness classes feel very welcoming. Don’t be afraid to try a new class!
