Apple Original Films has released the high-octane trailer for Joseph Kosinski’s “F1”, with Brad Pitt as a racer-by-rent on the Formula One circuit.
The film will meet theaters and Imax all over the country on June 27
Baptized “The biggest thing that was never”, Sonny Hayes (Pitt) was Formula One’s most promising phenomenon in the 1990s until he spectacularly crashed and burned. 30 years later, he is a nomadic racer-by-rent when contacted by his former teammate Ruben Cervantes (Javier Bardem), owner of a struggling F1 team that is about to collapse.
Ruben convinces Sonny to come back to Formula 1 for a final shot to save the team and be the best in the world. He will drive with Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris), the team’s hotshot -beginner intention to set their own accelerated pace.
But when the engines roar, Sonny’s past captures him and he discovers that in F1 your teammate is your hardest competition – and the road to redemption is not something you can travel alone.
“I offer you an open place in Formula One, the only place you can say, if you win, you are the absolute best in the world,” says Cervantes Hayes in the trailer.
“This is a movie about friendship, teamwork, victim, redemption,” said director Joseph Kosinski in a virtual question and answer. “The story I think is universal. It just happens to be set in this incredibly exciting world of Formula One, and if you are a Formula One fan, I think you will like this movie. If you don’t know anything about Formula One, I think you will like this movie and you might come out and want to watch some races or maybe even go to a race. So yeah, you don’t need to know something that goes in. We will teach you everything you need to enjoy this story. “
The film is produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, Kosinski, the famous Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton, Pitt, Jeremy Kleiner, Dede Gardner and Chad Oman.
