WWE’s Summerslam took place Over the weekend at New Jersey’s Metlife Stadium with hip hop star Cardi b Host of the Saturday part of Extravaganza at two nights. Although some fans and poundits speculated that the rapper can take the ring to squat with WWE Women’s world champion Naomi – they had saved on social media leading up to the event – Cardi gave their tasks to the microphone, sat at the rest of the evening and gave comedians Druski a playful jab in the upper body.
Cardi, whose single “Outside” served as the official theme for Summerslam, opened the event by going to the ring and previewing a new record, probably from her upcoming second album “Am in The Drama?” “We’ll come to you live from the Tri-State!” She screamed at the fans presence and those who looked at home. “We’re doing history tonight because this is the first two -day summer … we will talk about this forever!”
Backstage before the event officially started, Cardi could be seen to get some advice from Head Honcho Wwe Cco Triple H. Country Singer Breland opened the evening with a reproduction of “Good Bless America”, and later Jelly wrestled his first match for a tag team with Randy Orton, inevitably to be fixed by Logan.
“If you have the intestines and think you can do it and do it well as jelly roll, live your dreams,” Bret “Hitman” Hart told Amount At Chase Freedom’s “Summer Bash”, held at New York’s Gramercy Theater on Thursday.
Drama had driven the run to Summerslam because Cardi had been involved in a back and forth with Naomi at X, threatened to shave the title holder Bald and use the hair for a wig. Naomi shot back and told US Weekly that it can potentially reach a boiling point at the event. “She hopes better that she doesn’t bump into me at Metlife,” she said a few days ago. “She has talked really crazy and ruthless and I don’t like it.”
Cardi backstroke some of her tough conversations on social media after seeing part of the female guard list in the dressing room personally. “I’ve talked a lot of smack with the WWE girls on Twitter for two weeks,” she said. “You know that the bitches are quite large. I changed my mind.”
Cardi’s look comes in the wake of Travis Scott’s many komos in WWE events, an increasing hip-hop presence denotes the world of wrestling. “I think it’s cool to (have celebrities on WWE programming), continues to bring eye gulls to the product,” said WWE Intercontinental Champion “Dirty” Dom Mysterio. Hart agrees: “I actually like it,” he says.
WWE veteran Ron “The Truth” death echoed his feelings. “All the celebrities and rappers, when you see them out there (at our exhibitions), they really wrestle fans,” he says. “Famous rappers’ children request my action figures, they request my comrades. Action figures. The relationship between hip hop and wrestling has been around for a while … Hiphop is another ingredient that has been added to this wrestling machine that we have been looking at for several years. The rappers (which come out) are all big fans.
Mysterio’s girlfriend, Liv Morgan, told Amount In April that she was looking forward to potentially mixing it with Cardi in a struggle or tagging with her in summers. “There has always been a link to hip hop and WWE,” she said. “It’s cool to have that opportunity for everyone to have more eyes on the artist. More eyes on us at WWE.”
“I’ve never met Cardi, so I don’t want to talk badly about her,” they say in character about the potential dust between the two ladies. “But Cardi always gives props to Pops Eddie (Guerrero), props to her.”
Jade Cargil, a WWE Queenpin who has previously shown love for Cardi, competed for the women’s championship against Tiffany Stratton during Summerslam on Saturday. Cardi got up and cheered for Cargil during his ring in. Cargil applauded her company’s choice to have Cardi host.
“Why not?” she says. “She lives without regard. She is wild and ruthless and that is what we are about. It’s about pressing the limit. Going out there and just showing up and showing off.”
Other highlights from Summerslam include Seth Rollins, which makes a surprise return from supposedly long -term “injury” to win the World Heavyweight Championship, and Brock Lesnar makes a more shocking return after a two -year hiatus to defeat John Cena. Cena had just lost her championship and the symbolic torch switched to Cody Rhodes in Summerslam’s second night’s main event.
