What are denim nails?
“Denim nails are a trendy nail design that mimics the appearance and structure of denim fabric,” says Rianna Bellacures Rianna Bellacures. “They can range from deep indigo shades to soft, acid-wash blues, often with subtle worrying, fading or even seam-like details to resemble real jeans.” There are variations that choose matte finish to get a real fabric effect, but a glossy or metallic shine is also perfect for the trend.
The funny thing about denim nails is that they are a bit of an election-bit adventure. You can choose a manicure that looks like you carry it on your lower half or you can choose the more paired version that contains different shades of blue.
The good news? Denim nails are really versatile. “Just like jeans is a classic wardrobe -booklets that never go out of style and look good on everyone, the same thing can be said for denim nails,” says Nagelekspert Olivia van Iderstine. However, there are some guidelines. “The ripped style is usually applied to a longer nail, but the fixed denim colors also work on shorter nails,” says celebrity nail artist Sonya Meesh.
How to get denim nails
The first step is to decide which one takes the denim nail trend you want to recreate. This is where inspiration photos are practical. When you have reference photos, you want to make sure your manicure starts with the right nail preparation. Whether you are looking at the home or visiting a salon, new archived nails with shot nail beds are the key.
If you want to do it yourself is the easiest way to do it to start with a Blue nail polish. Fortunately, there are many different options to choose from. Some of our experts’ favorites include Olive and June CNH ($ 9) and Dior 796 denim ($ 32).
From there you can choose to add embellishments, seams or rip with a nail art brush or so you can keep things simple with a single-colored manicure. “To create the denim structure, dabra a makeup fungus in white or light blue polish and lightly press the nails to create a faded, structured effect,” says celebrity nail artist Elle Gerstein. “Alternatively, use a fan brush to streak thin, uneven white lines over the nails for a woven fabric appearance.”
