A large exhibition that explores the life and career of the woman who undoubtedly is country music’s biggest living superstar, “Dolly Parton: Journey of a Seeker, “will open at Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum In May and runs until September 2026, the department announced on Wednesday.
The exhibition will include artifacts ranging from her musical instruments to handwritten texts to famous songs and a cassette player that Parton used to record demonstrations for a variety of clothes that wear album covers or TV performances over the years. Text will explore some of the transition points in Parton’s career.
A book released in connection with the exhibition will go into the depth of all the above and contains the stories behind some of Parton’s classic songs. Lectures, panel discussions and concerts will also occur at the museum from June to next year. And the museum creates a playlist to follow the exhibition that will premiere on all steam services that day the display will open – May 20.

A Steve Summers-designed metal dress, with mesh fabric, nails and pearl rods, is worn by Dolly Parton in photos that promote her singles “World on Fire” and “We are the Champions/We will rock you,” from her 2023 album, Rockstar.

Designed for Dolly Parton by Lucy Adams, a trouser costume with bell sleeves, bells and rhinestone-and-pearl decorated flowers, carried by Parton when she toured with her traveling family band in 1975, and on the cover of Dolly, her album 1975, also known as Seeker/We used.

The first public program that is linked to the exhibition will be a concert on June 7 in the CMA Theater entitled “Smoky Mountain DNA”, a 90-minute performance that will contain “Owens-Parton Family History, Archivist, Producer and Bandleader Richie Owens, together with a party’s family of the Ensemble of Ensemble Understanding where Parton came from and why she still draws so much inspiration from her East Tennessee roots. “Programs can be reserved on the museum’s website from 1 May.
Parton will release its own book, “Star of the Show: My Life On Stage”, in November. The museum will host a panel discussion on December, 7 focused on Parton’s tournament success. Panel participants will include writers and historian Robert K. Omann and Billboard author Tom Roland, who was editor of the book “Star of the show”. Program cities will be available to reserve on October 23.
On January 19, Parton will be 80. Two days before that, the museum’s Ford Theater will present a panel discussion that illuminates her book “Behind the Seams: My Life in Rhinestones.” Panel participants will include Holly George Warren, a fashion writer and one of Parton’s “Behind the Seam’s” co-authors; Rebecca Seaver, Head of Museum and Archive Services for Dolly Parton Productions and another “Behind the Seams” co -author; And Steve Summers, long -lasting customer and creative director of Dolly Parton Enterprises. Tickets for that program can also be reserved from October 23.
