The Evil Costars opened the 97th Academy Awards on March 2 by taking the stage at Los Angeles’ Dolby Theater and performing a musical tribute to Oz.
Dressed in a custom Schiaparelli dress that gave a nod to Dorothy’s Ruby Red Slippers, Ariana began to sing Judy Krans“somewhere over the rainbow” from the movie 1939 The Wizard of Oz. Afterwards Cynthia – who wore a white Vivienne Westwood dress draped in flowers with a touch of green at the bottom of the skirt like an ode for her Evil Character Elphaba – Results “Home”, which is sung by Diana Ross in the 1978 filming of Wiz.
At the end, the comrades joined each other on stage to perform “Defying Gravity” from Evil. It seemed as if the viewers had changed for good after hearing the musical number when the audience members rose to give a standing ovation.
Ethan Slaterwho played Boq in the filman’s pass of Evil and meets Ariana, and Lena WaitheWhich has led to rumors of relationships with Cynthia, although none of them have confirmed a romance, also seemed emotional when they applauded in the crowd (see the above video to see the sweet moment).
