Another week, another new Netflix title on top of Samba TV Wrap report Streaming Chart. It has become an old hat now: the streaming giant has had place # 1 for eight straight weeks, with six different titles that claim the top spot.
The latest to take the throne is “Happy Gilmore 2”, the sequel to the classic Adam Sandler Golf comedy that comes almost 30 years after the original.
Netflix has invested heavily in Sandler and signed several offers that have paid his Happy Madison Productions an estimated half a billion dollars to produce Streamer films. With 4.7 million households looking at “Happy Gilmore 2” during the first weekend it was available – the largest Netflix movie debut 2025 so far – it is clear money that is well spent.
As we mentioned above, “Happy Gilmore 2” is the sixth Netflix title that rises to the top point over the past two months. The chart basket makes it feel as if the audience says “thank you, next” to what Netflix serves week to week. “Madea’s destination wedding”, which topped the chart two weeks ago, is nowhere to see this week. “The old guard 2?” Old news.
Nevertheless, there is an interesting exception to the rule, lower on the chart; A Netflix title that is stuck around a whole month after release. Even more interesting: It has never reached the top position.
We are referring to ”KPOP Demon Hunters“The animated worldwide phenomenon that apparently breaks all the norms for what a Netflix title should do. This is a title that actually fell of The most guarded streaming diagram earlier in July, only to return with renewed force. According to Netflix itselfIt is Streamer’s first film that reaches a new viewing top during its fifth week of release. The film keeps steady this week in sixth place, but where it goes next is someone’s guess.
Back to the upper half of the diagram, where we find last week’s number one, “untamed”, falls to others. In third place is another Netflix debut, “Hunting women. “The Drama series feels like” Big Little Lies “which is transported to East Texas, where the latest arrival Sophie (Brittany Snow) is a fish from the water that is swept up in the danger and drama around rich Margo (Malin Akerman) and her circle.
“The Gilded Age” at HBO Max slides a couple of seats down to the fourth week. It is Streamer’s current prestige on Sunday evening, though not serving the place as “The White Lotus” and “The Last of Us” did.
We turn back to Netflix for fifth place, which belongs to “Amy Bradley is missing.” The actual criminal documentation is down a place from last week. “Summer I became beautiful“Moves from ninth to seventh this week, is the first of two main video titles on the chart. It is united by” Ballard “that fell from fifth to tenth this week.
“Stick”, the golf-centered Owen Wilson series on Apple TV+, returns to the chart this week in eighth, perhaps with the help of other Linksman Happy Gilmore. And in the ninth, “Dexter: Resurrection” is on Paramount+, down a place from last week.
At the same time, “America’s Got Talent” continues to top the linear diagram and spells of top 10 full of game shows.
Secondly, the revived “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire”, which contains couples of celebrities playing together to win the money for a charity. The new season’s first episode presented Matt Damon who worked with “Jeopardy!” Host Ken Jennings.
