What is a full moon party?
A full moon party is a celebration of a full moon, which occurs once a month. Although some people can celebrate a full moon in Thailand outside in the city with friends and family, it can also be celebrated more introspectively at home.
“Because the full moon can give emotional intensity, a full moon party can be the perfect medium to let everything go,” says spiritual medium Amanda Lieber. It can not only help you feel more linked to yourself, but it can also be a great opportunity for a manifestation, she says. “It’s a great opportunity to put intentions and dream big.”
How to throw a full moon party
A full moon party can see how you want it to look. If you want to invite friends and host a party outside under the moonlight, it can be as simple as that. But if you want to host a full moon party with the intention of soaking all the spiritual energy, there are some ways you can do it too.
Whether you have a full moon party yourself or invite some friends, Lieber recommends getting into the attitude with an open heart. “The moon is here to get your divine feminine energy to the surface,” says Lieber. In other words, “leave your analytical” thinking mind “at home and lean into your more subconscious” intuitive mind “which actually has all the answers you’ve been looking for.”
To do this, Lieber says you should find a way to relax and calm your body before the party. This can be done by meditating, taking a bath, going for a walk or having a solo dance party. “How to create this open, susceptible state,” adds Lieber.
When the full moon is here, there are some things you should have on hand to take in all the spiritual energy of the moon:
- A journal. “It may be helpful to have a diary and something to write with to record all the thoughts or revelations that come up,” says Lieber.
- Crystals, because they can be loaded under the moonlight.
- A blanket or pillow for meditation.
- Some tissues: “Be prepared to let healing tears float,” says Lieber.
- Music, especially a Vibey playlist that makes you feel relaxed and calm.
When the full moon shines light, let you feel. Write down all the great emotions you experience, show some new goals and repeat confirmations that “I trust that everything is developing in perfect timing” or “I’m meant to get everything that my heart wants.”
Most importantly, don’t be afraid of what comes out during the full moon party. Remember that the full moon is a “conversation to take back your power by gently releasing old beliefs and behavioral patterns that no longer earn you”, so revelations can feel tough at first. However, know that the full moon will also help you “clear space for what actually turns on you,” Lieber adds.
