Boldness called. My long blonde ends were my hair standard, my security blanket since 2019. At that time I had planned my upcoming weddings – focused more on mine Bridal beauty appearance than my crumbling relationship. My Pinterest – boards flowed over with “Retro Regal” Inspiration – a Lemony Grace Kelly Bun that changed to a Bardot ponytail.
Fast flushing until 2025, six years later: That wedding never happened, but I still stuck to the credibility that long hair meant variation; Long hair meant sexy. You can stack it high in a Dolce & Gabbana update or lick it in a Hailey Bieber Bun.
I felt so a week before my 40th birthday last February when I saw a photo of myself. The broken hair was obvious. My threads bar from six years of bleach. It did nothing for me – not flattering a single feature, it was just. . . the.
That was when the vision struck – what about one Hak mowing? A quantum beauty jumps into a “short hair, does not care” decade. I began my research, overwhelmed by the Bob Pets-It is found “Baroque” BobThe “Prada” Boband even the floppy disk “Cowgirl Bob.” How short do you go?

What is a “princess” bob hairstyle?
I knew who to turn to my transformation: the visionary French hair architect Julien Farel, CEO and chairman of Julien Farel Restore Salon & Spa in New York City and Palm Beach. Farel, an undeniable icon himself (yes, Martha Stewart has put in his chair), is known for printing new identities with a pair of scissors. With my heart on a bob that would rule the highest, I sat in his chair at his lively park Avenue Salon armed with inspo. He quickly looked at my references and said: “Shorter than these photos. A sour mesure ‘princess Bob’ for you – just below the ears. Polished, elegant and sophisticated. The length is very important to catch your sharp jaw line.”
But what does a princess Bob make a princess Bob, you ask? Inspired by one of its most popular carrier, royal ‘it’ girl Princess Olympia of GreeceFarel says that the princess’s look is a chic, short bob hairstyle with an invisible layer to add motion and keep the look super blunt. Worn down was separated in the middle, you might as well add a royal title to your cinema.

Shorter? The hairstyle met me when I wondered if I had enough time to bolt. Just as I pondered my escape, Farel hit the first piece of hair and handed it to me – a reminder of my past “look” like children Hay. I exhaled and felt better. After I was shampoo, the scalp massaged and conditioned, I was ready for Farel, the master of makeovers, to work with his enchantment.
When he masterfully shaped and angled what felt like each individual string, we discussed what a new hairstyle can do for one’s trust. “We’re the cheapest surgeons,” Farel said. “You can completely change how someone looks by adjusting the volume of the hair to fit their face shape.” When I asked about the tailor -made Bob that he created for me, he said, “This is tailor made in your face and lifestyle. I want you to be able to wear it and design it in any way you want – straight, elegant, wavy, curly, bouncy.” After a whirlwind of snippet, suspension, turning and drying of the bladder, I turned to the mirror, stunned by my new look. Who was this chic – and dare I say, regal – version of me? Farel smiled and said, “When you went in here, your hair made you tired. It lost your energy. I had to lift you up. I had a vision for you: you look fresh, sexy and glam and your hair structure looks and feels healthy again.” He ended up with, “Next up … Blonds. Come back for a lighter Platina’s look in a few days.”

The few days with my new cut were filled with compliments and overload of confidence. On 59th Street I snapped a selfie to share with my friends, and a stranger chimped in, “Don’t worry. You look hot.” I was fuzzy. When my boyfriend saw me, he twisted me around and put his hands around his waist. “You look younger. I can see your face.” I went with a new swagger. I even got free match cakes while I picked up my Bondi -Sushi order.
Next on the agenda was the color, and for all blonde, nothing puts us more than the word “Blonds.” I returned to Julien Farel Restore Salon & Spa and met Senior Colorist Raphael Mauriello to make the jump to Platinum. “Platinum is timeless and harmonizes beautifully with your color and short hair,” said Mauriello. “From Marilyn Monroe to Madonna and Kim Kardashian, Platinum means both power and softness.”
When he painted my hair with a bowl of lavender cream, he continued, “Platinum is perfect for you because it often thrives with trim and minimizes injuries.” He added, “It also complements your lively personality.” After the blonde was completely baked, I enjoyed a lavish hot towel treatment to lock in moisture and got a beachy, bite blowout. I slid through the salon, which now felt like my place for rebirth, absolutely pleasing in my results.
The Princess, Queen, your Royal Highness – regardless of the title the title was assigned to this Bob, felt irrelevant. I was me, just better.
