Most music lovers and festival guests know that April marks one of the largest and most famous festivals in the world: Busser. As someone who loves both music and festivals, chances are you can find me there in the desert every year and sweat my butt.
This year my seventh time marked to Busser (I know, I’m wild), and one thing I’ve learned from my many years to participate is getting my makeup to keep all day (and night) is no easy performance. Number one, because you are out in the hot sun and number two, because you are still Outside all night when the temperature drops and it gets cold and windy.
For anyone who has not been before, let me break down some things for you. Unless you live on an Airbnb near the Empire Polo Fields (where the festival takes place) or camping, you are probably sleeping in a hotel an hour away from the main entrance. The festival opens around 13.00, so when you put on makeup in the morning or in the early afternoon it must keep you through at least an hour’s drive. From there, when you are dropped, it takes another 20 or 25 minutes to go to the entrance itself.
When you are in the festival, there are ten different scenes and tents where you can see music, and they extend all over the Polo fields. If you are there all day and bounce around from stage to stage, you go somewhere from 10 to 15 miles a day – sometimes more. Add to the fact that it is windy, warm and dusty – it is essentially a recipe for disaster when it comes to makeup.
So you need your products to keep, which is why I decided to put three different primers on the test during the first weekend. Keep scroll to read how they worked for me and see some (marginally flattering) photos of me after spending all day at the festival.
(PS if you need any festival -specific suggestions for Setting sprayThe We have it too.)
