I tried tiktok’s invisible mascara hack with aquaphor

Anyone who uses Tiktok is probably aware that the platform is home to some fairly wild statements. I have made it my personal assignment to Mytbust as many of them as I can possibly, which usually means chatting with dermatologists and other beauty experts in the industry.

Last year, when I saw some videos get viral on the platform and claim that Vaseline works better than mascara – With some rather convincing video proofs to follow it – my first question was whether it was safe or not. After talking to a handful of ophthalmologists who confirmed that using occlusive such as Vaseline, Aquaphor and petroleum jelly near the eyes was safe as long as they did not get directly in the eye, I decided that I would try it. In addition, “Ghost Lashes” is currently trends right now, which is a great way to say eyelashes without mascara, and I thought this would be a good way to test the paired look when using a fan.

I have short, chubby lashes. If you stare at me forward, chances are you don’t even know that my eyelashes are there. When I put on makeup, I usually curl them and the layer of mascara as my life depends on it. Whatever type of product I use – I’ve even tried waterproof formulas – my lashes fall flat at the end of the day. Not to speak, I constantly have to do with fallout, cereals and lumps from the thick coating I have on.

When I first decided to try this notch for myself, I was a little nervous. I was not sure if the Aquaphorer would be too heavy on my lashes, and to be honest, even though I got approval from a doctor, I was still a little deceived that I would get an eye infection. Fortunately, none of these things happened.

I have used this hack in recent months and it has changed the game completely for me. The only time I wear mascara is if I go out at night, but otherwise it is completely replaced by my need for product in my daily life.

Making the chop is easy. I start by taking my tube of Aquaphor ($ 6) and presses a little bit on the back of my hand. (I always make sure to wash my hands first.) Then I curl the eyelashes on both of my eyes with Kevyn Aucoin Eyelash Curler ($ 26). From there I take a pure spoolie (I use one from an eyebrow product that I have never used), dips it in Aquaphor and gently cover my lashes with a small piece of the formula. Then I take another spoolie to make sure everything is spread evenly, and I go over my eyelashes with Curler again.

This not only chops my lashes better than any other mascara or trick I have tried, but the lids actually last all day – even when I rub my eyes. Honestly, the only thing that makes the lids fall is when I use a detergent to wash my face at the end of the night. This is the best chop I have ever learned from Tiktok because it has made my life so much easier. I can look composed for a minute apartment just by doing this against my eyelashes, and I constantly have people who ask me if I got a fringe lift. Now, if only Aquaphor were to make a version of this product with eye lame fonditioning ingredients, I would be set to life.
