Eagle -eyed viewers noticed a mural of metahumans that decorated the walls of Hall of Justice in “Superman.” But with just a handful of blink-and-you come-it-it performances, the fans had a hard time naming more than a few heroes included in the design.
Now the author/director James Gunn gives the audience the whole picture – but even DC fanatics are still struggling to compile an extensive list.
Although San Diego Comic-Con will not host a panel for the new DCU as a whole, Gunn will arrive at Hall H on Saturday to talk about the second season in his series “Peacemaker.” However, this does not mean that he leaves the “Superman” fans empty -handed this weekend.
“You asked for it, you have it,” shared the DCU architect on X on Friday. “Here is the full mural that honors Metahuman’s history in DCU which adorns Hall of Justice in #superman.” You can see the post below.
Fans did not necessarily expect the deep cuts presented in works of art that Gunn shared. Some of the heroes found in the picture are relative Gimmes-Justice Society of America members such as Wildcat and Wesley Dodds’ Sandman are immediate stand-outs. Max Mercury goes through the second panel, a speedster with a close connection to various lightning iterations. Liberty Belle, an All-Star Squadron member who married Jesse Quick, stands next to him who married Johnny Quick and gave birth to Jesse Quick.
Giovanni Zatara (Father of Justice League Magician Zatanna) stands on the edge of the first image and puts up magic for DCU. At the end of the second image also shows a character similar to Sean Gunn (almost certainly Maxwell Lord).
Now things are getting a little more difficult. Gunn’s image sprays with heroes from DC history that fans are struggling to recognize. The black pirate and Miss Liberty-two heroes who served on 1978’s short-lived team The Five Warriors from Forever-collecting near the beginning of the first picture. B’wana Beast, which especially appeared in Grant Morrison’s acclaimed “Animal Man” driving, is shown on the other. Bulletman and Bulletgirl are also near the beginning of the latter photo.
If you can’t tell, most of these heroes are not exactly DC’s heavy finders. Like many parts of “Superman” (another-dimensional Imp will think about), the mural shows that this new DC universe is willing to plummet the depth of the comic book can to wipe out its world.
In the film, the Metahumans wall painting is shown briefly in a scene where Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan) asks the fairness group Green Lantern (Nathan Fillion), Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced) and Mister Terrific (Edi Gathegi) to find Superman (David Corenswet). Although no shot focuses on the mural, the artwork can be seen in the background several times.
The stage takes place in Hall of Justice and was filmed at Cincinnati Union Terminal. The history of metahuman’s murals evokes real works of art that adorn the walls of the Ohio country brand.
When asked if he could name all heroes in the deeply cut pictures, Gunn cheekly answered“I can yes.” DC Studios Co-CEO said below a Questions and answers That the mural tells the story of metahumans through the history of the new DCU. The beginning of “Superman” notes that the first metahuman appeared 300 years before the film’s events.
Gunn also stated under this question and answers that one of the heroes presented on this mural (other than Maxwell Lord) is produced by a famous actor – although fans have to wait to find out who it is and what character they play. With that casting in mind, the audience can expect to see some of these metahumans reappear.
“Superman” now plays in theaters.
