Leonardo DiCaprios ‘We Are Guardians’ Doc raises $ 1 million

“We Are Guardians”, a documentary presented by executing producer Leonardo DiCaprio and producer Fisher Stevens, has collected over $ 1 million in Rainforest preserving efforts through its charity campaign for a New York theater edition Friday and wider in September.

The project from co -directors Edivan Guajajara, Chelsea Greene and Rob Grobman highlights efforts from domestic leaders to protect the Brazilian Amazon amid invasion and deforestation.

“This is one of the most effective and successful documentary impact campaigns that I have been involved in during my career,” said Oscar-winning documentary Stevens (“Lincoln project”) in a statement. “Our team has met and has now exceeded all our first goals for the film, and we are just running.”

The documentary focuses specifically on the indigenous population in Tembé and Guajajara in Brazil. When illegal loggers and intruders spread deforestation on their country, individuals in these communities act as “guardians” in an attempt to protect nature and their homes.

The documentary Impact campaign for “We Are Guardians” has already made significant progress, even though the film has only had 890 views all over the world. The campaign equipped six teams by guardians like those covered by the film to help them fight deforestation, allowing them to protect 1.5 million acres; In the same way, almost $ 300,000 has been provided to the communities that are in the documentary to help with education and resources. The Impact campaign provided approximately $ 150,000 for repayment efforts.

It is easy to see how a project like this would be appealing to DiCaprio. For decades, the actor has served as a strong advocate for the environment and fight the climate crisis. DiCaprio has produced and worked with a number of climate and environmental documentaries since he risen to fame in the 1990s.

“We Are Guardians” premiere first back 2023 at the Hot Docs Festival in Canada. The documentary was shown at a number of other festivals over the years and won a handful of prizes. Since June 2025, the documentary premieres in several US cities on a tour that it will continue until the end of September. The movie is available online in Germany, Brazil and Britain
