The MTV Video Music AwardsFor a long time on MTV and its sister cable outlet without a live broadcast component, will be broadcast on CBS for the first time in 2024, the network announced on Thursday.
The show will be broadcast on CBS and be “simulcast” on MTV, which the announcement sets it-from the UBS arena on September 7 at. 20-11 et/17: 00 PT, Live Across Time Zones. The special will also be available for live view at Paramount+.
The shift is in line with other features made by the networks recently, such as CMT Music Awards that go out live for the first time on CBS 2024 instead of CMT himself (although that special went on Hiatus this year).
An hour pre-show will also be broadcast live over Paramount Media Networks.
But according to CBS’s announcement, MTV will be the only one of Paramount networks that carry the live broadcast together with CBS. That focus on these two networks is in contrast to last year, when the main telecoast is broadcast over 13 networks, including Comedy Central, CMT, VH1, Bet and Univision, among others.
With last year’s VMAs, which was broadcast over all these networks but not CBS, the show delivered its largest multi -network audience in four years and was “the most social VMA in show history”, according to the network, with 66.7 million social interactions measured.
VMA’s 2024 nabbed approximately 4.08 million viewers with the original telecoast and two encore aerations. It increased about 8% compared to the show in 2023, which raised 3.78 million viewers.
With the show still five months from its air date, no other details, such as nominations, hosts or artists, have yet been announced, in addition to the return to the UBS arena.
The 2025 show is executive produced by Bruce Gillmer and the co-founder Jesse Ignjatovic by Thieves. Barb Bialkowski is the collaborative producer, with Alicia Portugal and Jackie Barba who were set as managers responsible for the production. Wendy Plaut is CEO of celebrity talent and Lisa Lauricella The CEO of Music Tool.
