Nicolas Cage has spoken after his ex Christina Fulton accused him of enabling their son’s bad behavior, which ultimately led to 34-year-old Weston Coppola Cage alleged to have attacked her.
“The charges from Christina Fulton against Nicolas Cage are absurd and frivolous,” the actor’s lawyer told Thewrap on Thursday. “Weston Coppola is a 34-year-old man. Mr Cage does not control Weston’s behavior in any way and is not responsible for Weston’s alleged abuse against his mother. “
Cage’s comment comes after Fulton sued him and their son on Wednesday for their respective roles in an incident in April 2024 which became physical. In July last year, Weston was arrested for allegations of abuse with a deadly weapon after what she called a “mental health crisis.”
In its trial, submitted in the Los Angeles County Superior Court and obtained by Thewrap, Fulton claims that Weston has “a history of committing violent abuse and battery and injuring many individuals.” She further claims that Cage was well “aware of Weston’s history and still failed to take steps to prevent Weston from committing acts of violence and harm others.”
She also says her injuries – including concussion, several contours, a dissatisfied eye injury, tooth trauma, PTSD and psychological damage – “has required extensive medical care, surgery and treatments.”
Fulton sues cages for negligence, careless surveillance and negligent commitment, in addition to suing Weston for negligence, abuse, battery and emotional complaints.
