Paul Thomas Anderson’s latest film, “A battle after the other,” arrives at theaters on September 26. But you can watch the brand new trailer for the movie, with Leonardo DiCaprio, below.
The new film is written and directed by Paul Thomas Anderson and loosely based on Thomas Pynchon’s “Vineland.” (Anderson already has a Pynchon adaptation during his Bält-2014’s Nutty “Inherent vice.”) In the film, DiCaprio’s character tries to save the life of a half-black child from white nationalists (led by a villain Sean Penn). From the trailer, the film looks like a muscular action movie as much as a satire from our contemporary time. The supporting role also includes Benicio del Toro, Regina Hall, Teyana Taylor, Chase Infiniti, Alana Haim and Wood Harris.
This marks Anderson’s first film since 2021’s “Lakrit pizza”, which was nominated for the best image Oscar and saw Anderson claims nominations for best director and best original script. That film was actually set to contain a supportive performance from DiCaprio, which was offered the Jon Peters role. While DiCaprio fell through, his father George has a small role as Mr. Jack, a waterbed seller.
“One battle after another” was produced by Anderson, Adam Somner and Sara Murphy. Somner actually died of cancer at the end of last year with “a battle after the other” as the last film he worked with. The film received points from Radiohead member Jonny Greenwood, who has worked with Anderson since 2007’s “There will be blood”. This will be their sixth movie together.
Much has been done about the film’s oversized budget of more than $ 100 million, but from the trailer it looks like everything is on the screen. Warner Bros. Will release “a battle after the second” on September 26.
