“Pink Floyd På Pompeii-McMlxxii, ”Rock Bands konsertfilm från 1972, kommer att besöka teatrar med en återställd version som kommer till IMAX och andra bioskärmar från och med den 24 april, följt kort av en första fristående utgåva av soundtracket As As Ett officiellt live -album On May 2.
Trafalgar release And Sony Music Vision takes the film back to theaters, to be seen in a 4K digital remaster created by the original 35 mm pictures. Steven Wilson, whose remix is well known to fans of Classic Rock, was behind the board for a new Dolby mix of the film’s sound.
The live album comes out just a week after the film’s recurring at cinemas, with Legacy, Sony’s catalog division, which issues it on CD, Vinyl, Digital Audio and Dolby Atmos format. It is the first time the music from the film is released commercially as a standalone object. Its only previous iteration of physical media was a CD edition that was only available as part of a larger retrospective boxed set in the 2010 century.

Said Lana Topham, director of Restoration for Pink Floyd: “Since 1994 I have been searching for the difficult movie Rushes of ‘Pink Floyd on Pompeii‘So the latest discovery of the original 35mm Cut Negative 1972 was a very special moment. The recently restored version presents the first full 90-minute average, which combines 60-minute source editing of the performance with the extra Abbey Road Studios documentary segments filmed shortly after. ”
The document segments referred to Capture the Band in the recording studio that worked with what would become the most popular album, “The Dark Side of the Moon”, which came out in 1973 and broke the group to a wider level of star.
The songs filmed at the Pompeii site for live performances precedes the recording of “Dark Side” and include materials that go back to Pink Floyd’s first album, at Up Through the Den Current “Meddle.” The concert films were shot in 1971 among the ruins of the ancient Roman amphitheater in Pompeii, Italy.
Tickets for views will be sold on March 5 at. 06.00 PT/9 et at pinkfloyd.film. The film will appear on standard screens as well as in the IMAX format.
From the remixed sound for the movie, Steven Wilson said: “Ever since my dad was brainwashed me as a child by playing the dark side of the moon on repetition, Pink Floyd has been my favorite band. They are my “Beatles”, deeply intervened in my musical DNA. I first saw Pompeii from a grainy pressure on a local cinema. It made an incredible impression on me with its unbound and exploratory rock music made by four musicians who seemed to show the idea of intellectual cool. It was an honor to remix the soundtrack to follow Lana Topham’s incredible restoration of the film, which looks like it could have been filmed yesterday. ”
