If it seems like you have encountered more people wearing red nails than ever on social media, you might be on something. People on the app claim that there is a deeper reason why some are drawn to this special color. In a clip that now has more than one million views, users Robyn Delmonte theorized that men always complement her when she carries the color of the nails. “I strangely think guys are attracted to red nails because it reminds them of their mothers When they grew up and took care of them, Delmonte says in part of the video. “Or any kind of mom problem.”

Delmonte is not the only person who believes that red nails can lead to a free’s interest. Influencer and founder of RodBridget Bahl, has an ongoing joke about the trend with its Instagram followers. After getting engaged while wearing a certain color – you guessed it, red – on your nails, she theoretized that it is the key to taking your relationship with the next level. Many of her followers have chimped into the comment section to agree.
So are the red nail sorin a real thing? Yes and no. First, there is a reason why the shadow first became a popular manicure choice so many years ago. “Red nail polish began to be popular in 1929 after American women would see European socialists used Red Polish,” said manicure Julie Kandalec. The color continued to be a staple up to the beginning of the 70s.
However, Kandalec is skeptical of the theory. “Although I do not doubt that men are really inadvertently drawn to things their mothers were wearing, I don’t think this theory comes to a red nail,” says Kandalec. “Red berries as a daily, common color is very era-specific, and this was mainly seen in the 1930s, 40s, 50s and 60s, before other, more muted colors began to be popular in the 70s. Therefore, this theory depends very much depends on much depends on when Both the men discussed as well as their mothers grew up. ”
With that in mind, if red nails were mainly a staple in the 50s and 60s, it would mean that the men who grew up and looked that their mothers carry the color would be at a minimum in the 50s. While Delmonte does not specify the age range for her dating pool, it is safe to assume – for her and other tictokers that support the theory – that the numbers do not add here. Still, while the theory with red nails does not exactly panic, there is some credibility for the color red prisoners people’s attention.
“Like a red dress, red signals love, passion, power and sensuality,” says Kandalec. “Men can definitely be drawn to it.”
Whether you believe in the theory with red nails or not saying that no part of your beauty routine should be due to anyone other than yourself. The fun part with beauty is the freedom to explore, so do not hang on the details (or theories) that make you feel limited in your self -expression. If you like a crimson manicure for that reason and that reason alone it is good enough.
