Tiger Woods Biopic in Development at Amazon MGM

Amazon MGM develops a biopic about golf legend Tiger Woods, with “King Richard” director Reinaldo Marcus Green and Barack and Michelle Obama’s higher ground productions in calls to direct and produce respectively.

Winkler Films is on board to produce the film, which will be adapted from “The Tiger Slam”, a new book released last November by the former Golf Magazine chef chief Kevin Cook.

The book has its name from Wood’s most famous achievement: Winning four major tournaments in a row starting with 2000 US Open on Pebble Beach and continuing with the Open Championship and PGA Championship later that year before they won the masts in the spring of 2001.

In this way, Woods became the only golf player in the modern era that contained all four big titles at the same time and cemented his status as the biggest star of his sport. During the 2000s, Woods continued to increase its large championship number to 14, almost after Jack Nicklaus 18 for most of all time.

But in 2009, Wood’s career was reflected by the scandal after he admitted to several shops, which led to a possible divorce from his then wife, Elin Nordegren. Several injuries would then inhibit his attempt to return to dominance, even though he won his 15th major championship at Masters 2019. Earlier this week Woods underwent another operation for a broken Achilles, which probably forced him out of the champion of the year.

The new project will come when Amazon MGM prepares to increase its theater film slate and commits 12-14 films for cinemas per year after Amazon acquired MGM 2022. The studio will make its main schedule at Cinemacon next month.

Cook is represented by CAA and David Halper at David Halpern Literary Management. “Tiger Slam” was published by Avid Reader Press, an impression by Simon & Schuster.
