Weezer acted on Busser on Saturday afternoon without dealing with the fact that Bassist Scott Shriner’s wife was shot by the Los Angeles police and were arrested just a few days before.
Weezer, as Scott Shriner went with 2001, was an addition at the last minute to the bill at the Desert Festival-recognized just a few days before the incident-if only appear for the first weekend.
The band played a tight version of their latest set list, although it opened with “My Name is Jonas” a favorite from its blockbuster self -titled debut album from 1994, which is usually broadcast much later in the set. The band then roared into “hash pipe” and “Pork and beans” before Frontman Rivers Cuomo greeted the audience and said: “We made the Weezer movie back in Los Angeles, but when Coachella called and asked if we could make a surprising look, we said” Heck yes. “It’s so amazing to be here with all of you and release all these feelings,” which can probably be perceived as an oblique comment on the band’s week (if there are plans to make a Weezer movie, they have not been published). They launched in “The Sweater Song”, also from the first album, with sarcastic Coachella-theme comments from guitarist Brian Bell. Later in the set, Cuomo put his arm around Shriner as the bassist sang the choir from “Surf Wax America.”
Scott Shriner’s wife, Jillian Shriner, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder during a search for a hit-and-run suspected on April 9. Her injury was not said to be life -threatening and she was released from custody on a reported bond of $ 1 million.
The incident took place while the police were at home in the Eagle Rock area in Los Angeles looking for a hit-and-run suspect. Officers discovered Jillian Shriner in the yard in her house, which is next door and contained a gun. The police said they asked her to release the weapon several times, but she refused, instead it turned to the officers, according to LAPD’s report on the incident. Lapd then opened fire and she met in her shoulder. No officers or the public were injured during the incident, according to the LAPD report.
After being shot, Jillian Shriner was then taken into custody and taken to a local hospital to be treated for the gunshot wounds, which the police say was life -threatening. According to Associated PressLater, she published $ 1 million bond and was released from custody.
LAPD stated that Jillian Shriner had nothing to do with Hit-And-Run, and she was later booked for attempted murder.
