Zoya Akhtar, Reema Kagtis Tiger Baby Partners with Sony Music India

Tiger Baby Records, founded by acclaimed Indian filmmakers Akhtar and Kagti and singer writer-music supervisor Tewari, has Already carved a niche in India’s music landscape as a creative hub for indie- and home-grown talents. With Sony Music India’s expansive industry competence and international reach, the partnership aims to highlight different voices and drive boundaries in the rapidly developing Indian music industry.

Among its latest projects, Tiger Baby Records has collaborated with the Jewelry brand Tanishq on a wedding theme song composed by Abhishek-Ananya and performed by Poorvi Koutish, with a music video directed by Kagti. In addition, the label recently released the soundtrack for Kagti and Akhtar’s Toronto-Bowing movie “Superboys of Malegaon,” Based on the life of Nasir Shaikh, a filmmaker from Malegaon, composed by Sachin Jigar and presented texts by Javed Akhtar.

In addition, the label is set to contain original music that is curated by Tewari and shows a number of styles that highlight the unique voices from new artists. Tiger Baby Records also launches the initiative “City Sessions” in collaboration with Mumbai’s Island City Studios. This program will provide a creative space for new singer writers to experiment, collaborate with established artists and refine their crafts. It also tries to connect these artists to larger target groups, which promotes the label’s mission to support and care for new talent.
